hello@techmanufaktur.deHilfreich in der Mail: Gerät (Mac, iPhone, iPad), Version von macOS/iOS und Cortex (Mac: Cortex › Über Cortex; iPhone: Einstellungen › Apps › Cortex) und kurz, was du getan hast und was passiert ist.
Erste Schritte
Mac
- Cortex starten.
| Auswahl kopieren + KI → Zwischenablage | ⌃⌘C |
| Diktat starten/stoppen | ⌃⌘M |
| Screenshot ins laufende Diktat | ⌘⇧2 |
| Neuer Eintrag | ⌘⌥N |
| Alle Kürzel anzeigen (im Picker) | ⌘? |
Alle globalen Kürzel änderst du unter Einstellungen › Hotkeys.
Häufige Probleme
Cortex erfasst nichts, was ich kopiere.
Einstellungen › Apps › Cortex (iPhone/iPad) nachträglich erlauben. Die Transkription läuft komplett auf dem Gerät.
Claude & andere KI-Werkzeuge (MCP)
- In Cortex Einstellungen › MCP › „Konfiguration kopieren“ wählen.

Questions, problems or ideas? Write to us – we usually answer within two working days, in English or German.
hello@techmanufaktur.deHelpful to include: your device (Mac, iPhone, iPad), the macOS/iOS and Cortex versions, and briefly what you did and what happened.
Getting started
Mac
- Launch Cortex. When macOS asks whether Cortex may read the clipboard, choose “Always Allow” – that is what the app is for.
- Copy anything. It shows up in your history right away.
- Press ⌘⇧V anywhere, type a few letters, hit ⏎ – pasted.
iPhone & iPad
- Open Cortex and use the plus button for new entries: text, photo, file, clipboard or dictation.
- Share content from other apps to Cortex via the share sheet – voice messages are transcribed on-device.
- Home and Lock Screen widgets start a dictation or text entry with one tap.
Mac keyboard shortcuts
| Open/close the picker | ⌘⇧V |
| Paste one of the latest entries (in the picker) | ⌘1–⌘9 |
| File the latest entry into a group | ⌘⇧G |
| File the latest entry into the last-used group | ⌘⌥G |
| Copy selection + AI → clipboard | ⌃⌘C |
| Start/stop dictation | ⌃⌘M |
| Add a screenshot to the running dictation | ⌘⇧2 |
| New entry | ⌘⌥N |
| Show every shortcut (in the picker) | ⌘? |
Change any global shortcut under Settings › Hotkeys.
Troubleshooting
Cortex doesn’t capture what I copy.
macOS asks the first time Cortex reads the clipboard. If you chose “Don’t Allow”, change it for Cortex in System Settings under Privacy & Security. Also check whether capturing is paused (menu bar icon › “Resume Capture”).
Deliberately never captured: content from password managers and copies you make inside Cortex itself.
Nothing is pasted after I pick an entry.
Cortex always puts the entry on the clipboard – ⌘V pastes it. To let Cortex do that for you, turn on Settings › General › “Send ⌘V after picker paste” and grant the Accessibility permission.
A shortcut doesn’t respond.
Another app probably uses the same combination. Pick a different one under Settings › Hotkeys.
Entries don’t show up on my other device.
Cortex syncs through your iCloud Drive. Make sure all devices use the same Apple ID with iCloud Drive turned on. Trigger a sync with ⌘R on the Mac or by pulling down the list on iPhone and iPad. Large attachments take longer; iCloud decides when to upload.
The AI features are greyed out.
They use Apple Intelligence on your device. Turn on Apple Intelligence in System Settings and wait until the model has downloaded. Capture, search and dictation work without it.
Dictation doesn’t record anything.
Cortex needs access to the microphone and speech recognition. You can allow both later in System Settings (Mac) or Settings › Apps › Cortex (iPhone/iPad). Transcription runs entirely on the device.
Claude & other AI tools (MCP)
On the Mac, Cortex ships a local MCP server. It lets tools like Claude Desktop list, search, read and create entries in your library and assign groups.
- In Cortex, choose Settings › MCP › “Copy Configuration”.
- Paste the block into your tool’s MCP configuration (Claude Desktop:
claude_desktop_config.json) and restart the tool.
The server runs locally over stdio and opens no network connection.
Data, purchase & requirements
Where is my data, and how do I delete it?
Every entry is a Markdown file (plus attachments) in Cortex’s folder in your iCloud Drive. Delete the app and the Cortex folder in iCloud Drive and everything is gone – nothing is stored with us.
I have a new device. Do I need to buy Cortex again?
No. Cortex is a universal purchase: with the same Apple ID you download it on Mac, iPhone and iPad at no extra cost.
How do I get a refund?
Purchases are handled by Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
System requirements
