Cortex remembers everything you copy — and actually understands it. Summaries, intents and structure, powered by Apple Intelligence. Entirely on your devices. Entirely yours.
One purchase for Mac, iPhone & iPad · never a subscription · macOS 26+ · iOS 26+ · No account, no server
Keyboard-first, from the first keystroke
Cortex quietly captures what you copy — and turns a flat history into an organized, searchable library.
Text, links, tables, images, files — everything lands in your history with its source app and timestamp. Duplicates get bumped, not duplicated.
Copied an invoice? Cortex extracts the fields. A rambling deal email? You get the stage, the numbers and the next step. On-device, in seconds.
File entries into nested groups like Sales/Q1 with one hotkey. Your clipboard becomes a knowledge base instead of a junk drawer.
Built-in OCR turns screenshots into searchable text. PDFs and Word documents resolve to clean text automatically — scans included.
Every entry is a human-readable Markdown file in a folder you choose. Sync it with iCloud, grep it, version it. No lock-in, ever.
Cortex ships an MCP server: Claude Desktop and other AI tools can search, read and organize your clipboard library — with your permission.
Hit ⌘⇧V anywhere. Type three letters. Hit ⏎. Done — the picker finds it, pastes it and gets out of your way.
Cortex is designed hands-on-keys: global hotkeys for capturing, grouping and pasting — and a built-in cheat sheet so you never have to memorize them.
Cortex also runs on iPhone and iPad — one purchase, one library, synced through your own iCloud.
Capture on the go: text, photos, files and links — via the plus button, the share sheet or a widget on your Home and Lock Screen.
Speak instead of typing. Transcribed on your device, keeps running in the background and while locked — with a timer on the Lock Screen. On the Mac: ⌃⌘M.
Share a voice message from WhatsApp or any other app to Cortex. It is transcribed on-device and filed by source app automatically.
Your library moves between Mac, iPhone and iPad through your own iCloud Drive. There is no Cortex server in between.
Press ⌘⇧2 during a dictation on the Mac: Cortex merges what you say and what you capture into one entry — perfect for meetings and reviews.
Universal purchase: one App Store purchase unlocks Cortex on your Mac, iPhone and iPad. No account, no subscription.
Your clipboard is the most sensitive data stream on your Mac. Cortex treats it that way: there is no Cortex server, no account, no telemetry — because there’s simply no code for any of it.
No anonymous corporation, no support bots. Cortex is built in Paderborn by two people who use it every single day — and read every email themselves.

Drives the product ideas behind Cortex — from the clipboard as a knowledge base to the AI pipeline. Believes your data belongs in files you own, not in someone else’s database.

Turns those ideas into code — from the capture engine to the on-device AI. Pushes every build to its limits before you ever see it.

Everything local is a lifetime purchase. A subscription will only ever exist for things that cost us money every month — cloud AI and sync.
Lifetime

one purchase · Mac, iPhone & iPad · price as shown in the App Store
Bought once, yours for good: updates to everything that runs on your devices are included.
No account. No subscription. Your data stays in your files.
Not to us. Capture, search, OCR, dictation and AI all run locally. Your library syncs between your devices through your own iCloud — Cortex has no server. Link previews for copied URLs are loaded directly from the website, and you can turn them off.
You define “intents” — situations like Invoice or Deal Update with a prompt each. When you run AI on an entry, Cortex detects the matching intent and applies your prompt: extract fields, summarize, translate, reformat. All with Apple’s on-device foundation model.
Mac: macOS 26 or later on Apple Silicon. iPhone and iPad: iOS / iPadOS 26 or later. AI features require Apple Intelligence to be enabled; everything else works without it.
As Markdown files (plus attachments) in Cortex’s folder in your iCloud Drive — readable, movable, yours. That is also how Mac, iPhone and iPad stay in sync. No proprietary database involved.
Cortex includes a small MCP server binary. Add one snippet to your Claude Desktop config, and Claude can list, search, read, create and organize entries in your library. It runs locally over stdio.
No. Cortex is a one-time purchase on the App Store — and it is universal: you buy it once and use it on your Mac, iPhone and iPad. What you get stays yours. If a subscription ever comes, it will only be for optional services that cost us money every month.
